Today’s office of Matins presents us with reflections on the virtues of the Holy Family from the great St. Bernard, who emphasizes in particular the virtues of chastity, humility, and obedience. The Novus Ordo also celebrates a feast of the Holy Family. I say “a feast,” because it is not the same feast. In their version, they have removed the meditations of Pope Leo and the meditations of St. Bernard, and they have replaced them with a reflection by Paul VI. All of the virtues mentioned by Pope Leo and St. Bernard are gone. There is no mention of vigilance, prudence, charity, modesty, submission of mind, faith, obedience, chastity, or humility. Paul VI instead reduces the family to a basic social function, he says, calling it a community of love and sharing, with problems and rewards.

 

He calls our Blessed Lord the brother of the working man, and a prophet who promotes every cause of the working man’s welfare. This sounds like he is making our Lord out to be some sort of labor-union boss with communist connections. There can be no doubt that that is his intention, for he goes on to say that the most important thing to reflect upon on the feast of the Holy Family is the dignity of work. In his reflection, he refers to our Lord casually as a carpenter’s son. He does not say “ the carpenter’s son as He was thought to be during His childhood.” No - he just flatly calls our Lord a carpenter’s son in an unqualified sense. It is a clear slight against the honor of the Divine Person.

Not once in his reflection does he refer to the divinity of Christ or to the virginity of Our Lady or to the virtues of St. Joseph. That is no surprise, for these things are all despised and rejected by the modernists. The prayers f­or today’s Mass were radically altered by the Novus Ordo. The traditional prayers speak about the submission our Lord gave to Mary and Joseph. This beautiful mention of submission was cut out of the Novus Ordo because submission has to do with authority and obedience, and these things are hateful to them. The traditional prayers mention the fact that family life has been consecrated by the ineffable virtues of Christ. What a wonderful thing to reflect upon - what a wellspring of graces to be drawn from this wonderful reflection. But this consideration was also cut out of the Novus Ordo.

Within the Holy Family, Christ showed many virtues - especially obedience, submission, and humility. But they hate these virtues. They do not want children to hear about these aspects of our Savior’s young life at Nazareth. They want children to be rebellious, as I will show later. The traditional prayers ask that, at the hour of our death, we may run to meet the glorious Virgin Mother and blessed Joseph, so that through Christ we may merit to be received into eternal tabernacles.

​

Again, this was deleted in the Novus Ordo and replaced with a prayer merely asking that we be with the Holy Family - no mention of death, no mention of our calling upon Our Lady or St. Joseph at the hour of our agony, no mention of merit. The Novus Ordo does not want people to prepare for death or think about death or accumulate merit. What is the point, since from their perspective you can go to heaven in any religion anyway? All of these changes in the texts for today’s feast are symptomatic of the wider attack on the family. This attack is all part of modern culture. You hear me say all the time that the Novus Ordo really is just modern culture dressed up to look like a religion. Now, a lot of you who grew up without ever having any experience with the Novus Ordo may think that the problems have to do with doctrinal errors like religious liberty and ecumenism and so forth. And you may think that these discrepancies are pretty abstract. You have to keep in mind, though, that heresy always goes with immorality - and the worse a heresy is, the more immorality it will produce.

​

And as the Novus Ordo is the worst heresy ever to assault the Church, it follows that the immorality fostered by the Novus Ordo should also be the worst immorality ever fostered by any heresy. And it is. Let me give you some examples. First of all, it is common knowledge that Novus Ordo clergy have treated children worse than any group of people have ever treated children in history.

I teach history, and I do not think that that is an exaggerated statement. They have had to pay staggering financial penalties as a result of decades of dissolute behavior. Their reputation as moral authorities has been completely shattered and will never recover. They want people to think that they have dealt with this problem and that there is nothing to worry about anymore. They have invented these programs with fancy names like Protecting God’s Children, and they force lay people to sit through these agonizing lectures. Why is the problem with the lay people? Is the problem with the parents? No. Everyone knows that the problem is with the bishops. Evil men are occupying these high administrative positions and disseminating all of this sin and scandal.

​

Maybe they have learned how to deal better with the press and with lawyers, but they have not improved morally. The scandals of the 1960s became public in the 1980s, and everyone was told not to worry: it is being handled. The scandals of the 1970s and 1980s became public in 2002, and everyone was told not to worry: it was being handled. The scandals of the 1990s and 2000s became public in 2018, and everyone was told not to worry: it was being handled. How many times is this going to happen before people realize it isn’t being handled?

​

To handle the problem would mean appointing real Catholic bishops to administer dioceses according to real Catholic morality. But they do not want Catholic bishops. They want modernists with no beliefs and no morals. And as long as modernists continue to be appointed to those offices, the cycle of immorality and mistreatment of children will continue. They tell children that they can go to heaven in any religion, even if they are not religious at all. It is in their textbooks. This was mandated to be taught to them by JPII.

​

It is no surprise, therefore, that the children, when they reach about sixteen years old, come to think of all religion as totally useless and meaningless. In fact, the main reason why people with no religion are now the second-largest religious demographic in America is because the Novus Ordo has raised three generations of people to be irreligious. They live as if they will never have to answer to God for their behavior. Nor are they interested in learning how they should behave in order to please God.

​

Why bother with this if they are going to heaven no matter what? This environment makes children think: If I do not have to conform to certain standards of behavior in order to go to heaven, then why should I obey my parents? Why should I respect them? They start having these thoughts at a time in their life when they are already experiencing temptations to disrespect and disobedience. This creates an unhappy, tragic home environment full of anxiety, sin, and resentment.

​

And the people responsible for this are not so much the parents, but the Novus Ordo clergy. Then the Novus Ordo reaches out to these unhappy children and invites them to join “youth group” to cure their sadness. There they are indoctrinated into Pentecostalism. They are taught that having a lot of strong emotions means that you are very spiritual and you have a lot of grace. That is straight out of Protestant revivalism. And we see that they promote this heresy in those large-scale worship rallies that they love to have from time to time.

​

These youth groups put boys and girls together at ages when they should be kept separate - which means that the Novus Ordo is everywhere officially placing children in occasions of serious sin. This is a grave scandal for which they will all have to answer to God. On that same subject, the vast majority of Novus Ordo high schools and universities do not separate girls and boys. Even pre-Christian pagan cultures would have been scandalized by this. And yet it is accepted today as if it is the norm.

​

The Novus Ordo tells parents that it is morally all right to send their children to non-Catholic schools. This is saying it is all right to put your children in an occasion of serious sin. Again, this is a grave scandal for which they will have to answer. The Novus Ordo tells people that contraception, impurity, fornication, adultery, and sodomy are either not sins at all, or not serious sins - not grave sins. These things are not said from the pulpit, but they are taught in informal settings. The practical result of all this is the proliferation of all these sins in the parishes, and it is getting worse and worse.

​

Priests blessing sodomitic unions now is something officially accepted. Children adopted by sodomite couples are now being baptized by Novus Ordo ministers. All of this is done with the knowledge and consent of the Novus Ordo bishops.

​

The Novus Ordo never tells parents that their children have to be kept away from cable TV and the internet. Novus Ordo children have smartphones from a young age, and they are on them all the time. Television, internet, and video games all bring the liberal culture of the world straight into the home, and the children virtually worship this godless, brain - rotting culture as if it were an idol. It is impossible for a child to have a spiritual life and also own a device with internet access. It’s impossible. A child will either be spiritual, or will have internet-capable devices. There is no in between there.

​

The Novus Ordo obviously does not care about the children’s spiritual lives. The Novus Ordo permits unmarried men and women to live together even if they are not engaged, even if they have no intention of marrying - and will give them Communion. Even people who have been divorced and “remarried” are encouraged to live together and are given Communion and are not admonished.

​

The Novus Ordo not only allows divorce, but actually promotes divorce. Now it does this not in an official manner but in an unofficial and rather sneaky way. What they did was invented new grounds for annulments in 1983. JPII came up with these various reasons why someone might be able to get an annulment, and these reasons essentially enable them to declare virtually any marriage to be null and void.

​

Do you remember when Bergoglio said he thought almost all marriages were probably null and void? That seemed shocking, but it would make perfect sense in the Novus Ordo context, since the Novus Ordo annulment process allows for nearly any marriage to be declared null. Now, they call this an “annulment” in order to fool people that it is not divorce, but in reality it actually is divorce. The rate of annulment and divorce among Novus Ordites is far higher than the rate among atheists, at least in this country.

​

The Novus Ordo lets people dress however they want for Sunday Mass. What would be considered grave violations of modesty - where we would turn you away at the door - are the norm in the Novus Ordo. Almost no man wears a jacket and tie to church. Almost no woman wears a dress to church. T-shirts, shorts, and sandals are common.

​

The Novus Ordo officially teaches couples to use the rhythm method in a gravely sinful manner - a manner which is directly contrary to the teachings of Pope Pius XII. The Novus Ordo discourages preaching against abortion and contraception. We were actually told, when I was in a Novus Ordo seminary, to avoid preaching these topics so as not to offend the women in the church who have had abortions or who use contraception. The Novus Ordo thinks that sensitivity to the common morality of the people is more important than teaching them the commandments of God. All this to say that the moral environment cultivated by the Novus Ordo is sick. It could not possibly be further from that which was cultivated by the Holy Family in Nazareth. It is like night and day - heaven and hell.

​

In the Holy Family we find vigilance, prudence, charity, modesty, submission to authority, faith, obedience, chastity, humility, and contempt for the vanities of the world. In the Novus Ordo we f ind carelessness, grave immodesty, disregard for the natural law, disregard for Church authority, apostasy among children, disobedience and disrespect of parents, impurity, pride, and love of the world. As far as raising children is concerned, it is as hopeless an environment as has ever existed.

​

My dear faithful, we come into this world in the presence of a natural family, and we hope to depart from this world in the presence of the Holy Family. We will not find the Holy Family dwelling in the Novus Ordo or in the worldly culture which has become ubiquitous today. Reject all of that. Reject all of that falsehood. Reject all of that worldliness and turn with all your strength to the practice of the true Catholic religion. Imitate the virtues of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. Have these names upon your lips frequently. If we live constantly mindful of the presence of the Holy Family, then when the time comes for us to enter into that last agony, we will find it easy to call upon them, because we have been habitually calling upon them - and they will come to us.

​

The Church’s prayers for the departing soul are among the most beautiful of all the prayers ever written, and they repeatedly invoke the Holy Family. The priest speaks, for example, these prayers to the dying person. Listen to this exquisite prayer: May St. Joseph, the sweet patron of the dying, inspire you with great confidence. And may Mary, the Holy Mother of God, turn her eyes upon you with loving mercy. Let Jesus Christ appear to you with a mild and cheerful countenance and appoint you a place among those who are to stand before Him forever.

Let these and similar sentiments be in your minds and on your lips now and at the time of your death. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, protect us. Amen.
